Lone Mørch is a Danish artist, photographer, and author working at the intersection of embodiment, ecology, narrative and cultural change. Through photography, writing, and artistic inquiry, she explores how we are shaped by the stories we inherit about ourselves and the world, and what becomes possible when those stories begin to loosen.
Working internationally across Europe, the United States, and Asia for more than three decades, her practice moves between long-term photographic and narrative projects rooted in the porous and cyclical relationship between body, nature, and story. This includes intimate portrait work with women and an inquiry into the relationship between women’s bodies and the living world at a time marked by experiences of separation—from nature, community, and self.
Her years in San Francisco, where she photographed more than a thousand women, remain a formative foundation of this work and continue to shape her attention to gaze, representation, and authorship. This body of work is gathered in her book EMBODY: Intimate Photographic Encounters with Women. She is also the author of the memoir Seeing Red: A Woman’s Quest for Truth, Power and the Sacred, and her TEDx talk The Power of the Gaze introduced her work to a wider audience.
Her writing and photography have appeared in international publications including The Huffington Post, Barren Magazine, and Travellers’ Tales. Her work has been exhibited in the United States, Switzerland, and Denmark, most recently at Gimsinghoved Kunst- og Kulturcenter and DARK GALLERY in Copenhagen (2026). She is the recipient of the Tanenbaum Award for Non-fiction from the San Francisco Foundation and the Solas Award from Travellers’ Tales.
She now lives in the Southern archipelago in Denmark, where she is developing The Earth Mother project.
Hun er desuden forfatter til erindringsværket Seeing Red: A Woman’s Quest for Truth, Power and the Sacred, og hendes TEDx-talk The Power of the Gaze.
